Brief One: - Black and White poster and flyer design
I have just started a Diploma in Graphic Design at Natcoll. Our first brief was to design a black and white A3 poster and a matching flyer to advertise an event of our choice. The opera, Madame Butterfly, is set in the early 1900's in Japan. It is a tragic tale about a young Japanese geisha who marries, and is subsequently deserted by an American Navel Officer - hence the American flag design on her kimono. I was influenced mainly by Japanese woodblock prints but also by Art Nouveau illustrations, particularly those by Audrey Beardsley.
